Clan Dixon has been registered with Clans of Ireland since January 2013. While the Dixons originally descend from Clan de Keith of Caithness, hereditary Marshals of Scotland, their ancestor Nicholas Dixon b. abt 1481, came to Ireland in the early 1500s as part of the forces which accompanied the Rt. Hon. Francis Agard who was sent to Ireland by King Henry VIII to oversee the disolution of the monestries.
The current board of Clan Dixon in Ireland are the direct descendants of Nicholas Dixon and by marriage also descend from Francis Agard whose tomb is memorialised at Christchurch Cathedral, spiritual home of Clans of Ireland.
